Driver’s License, Registration, Inspection

If you desire the option to have your citation dismissed upon correction of an Expired Drivers License, Expired Registration, or Expired Inspection, you will have twenty (20) business days from the date of offense to correct the violation and submit proof of correction to the court. The citation may then be dismissed upon payment of a $20 dismissal fee.

Registration Proof

The registration proof must include a 20% penalty paid to the Department of Motor Vehicle at the time the registration was renewed. If this penalty is not paid, the Court cannot dismiss the citation.

Inspection Proof of Correction

The inspection proof of correction must show the vehicle passed the inspection or you may bring the vehicle and your copy of the citation to the Court for verification.

Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility

If you were issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (Insurance) and you in fact were covered by an insurance policy at the time the citation was issued, you may present proof to have your citation dismissed.

Proof Requirements

The proof must indicate the following six items:

  • The name, address, and telephone number of the insurer.
  • The insurance policy number.
  • The policy period (the effective and expiration date).
  • The name and address of each insured.
  • The make and model of each covered vehicle.
  • The policy limits or a statement that coverage complies with the minimum amounts of liability insurance required.

Requirements Not Met

If your proof does not reflect all six (6) requirements, your proof will not be accepted by the Court. You will have to obtain a new card from your insurance carrier reflecting the necessary requirements or obtain a letter from your insurance carrier (on their company letterhead) stating each of the requirements that are not indicated on your insurance card.

Policy Verification

All policies will be verified by the Court. It is a Felony Offense to file a fraudulent document with the Court and violators will be prosecuted.

Fines

  • Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility: $310.00
  • Second Offense: $420.00
  • Third Offense: $520.00
