REPAIR PLAN

Due to deteriorating conditions that pose safety concerns, the two boat piers at Terry Park have been temporarily closed. The boat ramps will remain operational.

Randy Patton, Manager of Parks, Building Maintenance, and Streets, has developed a plan to carry out the required repairs over the next three months.

To facilitate the repairs, the parks staff will be responsible for purchasing required materials using remaining funds allocated for the fiscal year 2022-2023.

As the Fall season approaches and the demands of mowing and landscaping decrease, the parks staff will allocate their efforts towards the repair project. Using in-house staff, the necessary repairs will be undertaken, addressing both safety concerns and functional aspects of the piers.

In addition to the in-house repairs, a welder will be hired to address any structural issues with the pier framework. This approach ensures that the structural integrity of the piers is thoroughly restored, providing a safe and reliable environment for park users.

The parks staff plan to replace all deck planking with new materials. This replacement initiative contributes to the overall longevity and stability of the piers.

COMPLETION

The goal of the repair plan is to have the piers fully operational and safe for public use by the end of November 2023.
