Transcript of City Council Meeting Recap - 10/13/26 Speaker: Heath City Manager Steven Alexander Hello, I’m City Manager Steven Alexander with a quick update from the October 14 City Council meeting. We began by recognizing members of the Heath Department of Safety, our telecommunications team, and supporting agencies for their exemplary actions, professionalism, and response during a critical incident on May 9, 2026. Certificates of Merit and Letters of Commendation were presented to the officers in recognition of their outstanding service and dedication to protecting our community to keep Heath one of the Safest Cities in Texas. Council held a public hearing and after considerable deliberation Council denied a request for a variance to the City’s residential fence regulations for a property in the Ridge Lakes neighborhood. Council also approved an amendment to the City’s Master Trail Plan at the request of the developer of Heath Golf & Yacht Club. The Master Trail Plan helps guide future trail connections and improve connectivity throughout Heath. The requested amendment realigns a planned trail segment crossing a 40-acre tract at 537 Hubbard Drive. The Park Board reviewed the requested change first and unanimously recommended approval by City Council. You can find the City’s Master Trail Plan as well as a map of the new nature trails on our website. Finally, Council approved the appointment of Heath citizen Russell Shaul to the Parks and Trails of Heath, or PATH, Fundraising Committee. PATH works to secure donations and public-private partnerships to enhance park amenities, expand our trail system, and beautify civic properties. PATH members are appointed by the Park Board and City Council, and we appreciate their dedication and effort to help ensure that Heath is a premier outdoor lifestyle community. Thank you for staying informed and engaged in your local government. For more information about City Council meetings, projects, and initiatives, visit heathtx.com. Have a great week.
