Transcript: Heath In Motion - Grants (Fall Series) Speaker: City of Heath Mayor Jeremiah McClure As we continue investing in the premier outdoor lifestyle community that we’re proud to call home, your City Council and staff are always looking for creative ways to stretch your tax dollars and bring additional funding into Heath. One of the best ways we do that is through grants, partnerships and private donations, allowing us to accomplish more while reducing the burden on our residents. And our community has truly stepped up. Over the past two years, the City has raised $1.5 million in private donations to support parks, trails and beautification projects throughout Heath. We’ve also had several recent funding successes. Texas Parks and Wildlife awarded the City a grant to renovate the Towne Center Park restrooms, as well as help create a Donor Garden recognizing those who support our Parks And Trails of Heath, or PATH, initiative. City Council also approved applying for another Texas Parks and Wildlife grant to help fund Marsha’s Happy Haven, our planned all-abilities playground at Terry Park. Earlier this year, the project received an incredible $1.1 million private donation, bringing us another step closer to making this community asset a reality. We’re pursuing outside funding for infrastructure as well. City Council recently approved applying for a Texas Water Development Board grant to support projects identified in our long-term Water Plan. And our Department of Public Safety has received more than $70,000 in grants and private donations for vehicle rescue equipment, emergency vehicle AEDs and other public safety initiatives. We’ve also submitted a FEMA SAFER Grant application that could help fund three public safety positions for the two new stations currently under construction. These are just a few examples of how we’re leveraging outside funding, private support and your tax dollars to accomplish more for Heath. I’m incredibly grateful for the generosity and partnership of our community, and I’m honored to serve as your Mayor. Thank you, and may God Bless Heath!
