HEATH DPS PRESENTS 2026 CITIZEN’S ACADEMY
Deadline to Apply is January 31
Would you like to become more involved in keeping Heath safe?
The Heath Department of Public Safety is presenting the 2026 Citizens’ DPS Academy, which offers a unique “inside” view of the how the department operates with officers who are triple-certified as EMT, police and fire professionals, as well as valuable classroom and hands-on training in life-saving skills such as CPR and more.
Upon successful completion of the academy, graduates are eligible to participate in further training to become a member of the volunteer Citizens’ on Patrol (C.O.P.) program. Members are trained to work with the Heath DPS to act as additional “eyes and ears” to help to report criminal activity and issues requiring the attention of city resources.
The 6-week Citizens’ DPS Academy will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., beginning February 12. The deadline for submitting your online application (below) is Saturday, January 31.
Academy participants must be 18 years of age or older, be a high school graduate or hold an equivalent education, have no felony convictions, and have a valid Texas driver’s license. The application process includes a background check.
