The school is named after Mrs. Linda Lyon. Mrs. Lyon graduated from high school in Dallas and then attended Texas Tech University in which she graduated from in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She then earned her master’s degree in guidance and counseling in 1984 from East Texas State University in Commerce.

Dorothy Smith Pullen Elementary School is the seventh elementary school to be built in Rockwall ISD. The school opened its doors to students in the fall of 1999, and its name honors a highly respected Rockwall teacher, Mrs. Dorothy Smith Pullen.

Honoring the distinguished local educator Amy Parks. The school’s namesake spent her entire 35-year career teaching Rockwall’s first graders to read and preparing them for the future. The school’s site was made possible through the generosity of Dorothy and K.K. Stanfield who donated the 12-acres.

Maurine Cain was a life long resident of Rockwall County and a graduate of Rockwall High School. Her teaching career spanned 38 years, beginning in a one-room country school. Mrs. Cain retired from Rockwall schools in 1982 after a distinguished teaching career that included every grade level. The Cain family is well known and respected in the community.
