CITY COUNCIL ADOPTS FY 2026 CITY BUDGET
The Heath City Council adopted a FY2026 Budget and Plan of Municipal Services on September 23 that prioritizes critical infrastructure needs including water supply and distribution, road construction, and drainage improvements.
The FY 2026 budget runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. The adopted tax rate for FY 2026 is 27.565 cents per $100 of taxable assessed value, representing a decrease of approximately 5.1% compared to last year’s tax rate.
Water and Sewer rates will increase by approximately 25% to address increasing costs from the North Texas Municipal Water District and to fund a bond issue that will provide funding to implement the Water Bridge Plan, which includes two new water storage facilities and the construction of up to six potable water wells. The new rates are also effective beginning October 1, 2025.
Approximately 64.9% of the overall $105-million-dollar budget is made of capital expenditures, which also include the construction of two public safety buildings, the final phase of Hubbard Drive and improvements to Terry Lane.
Additional investments in services include:
- 3 new Public Safety Officers
- 2 full-time positions dedicated to park maintenance
- 1 full-time position focused on street maintenance
