Heath Welcomes John Hernandez as City Engineer
John Hernandez, PE, RPLS, sUAS, has joined the City of Heath as City Engineer, bringing more than two decades of experience leading the planning, design and delivery of public infrastructure projects.
A licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, California and Oklahoma, and a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas and California, Hernandez has successfully managed multimillion-dollar transportation and public works projects for state and local agencies throughout his career.
“We are pleased to welcome John to our team,” said City Manager Steven Alexander. “As the City of Heath continues to invest in critical infrastructure to support our community, John’s experience and collaborative approach will help ensure that we deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget to serve our residents today and for generations to come.”
Most recently, Hernandez served as Senior Highway Group Manager for STV, Inc. in Dallas, following more than two decades in engineering leadership with Hernandez, Kroone & Associates, where he directed engineering operations and managed multidisciplinary teams.
“I look forward to helping shape a community that values thoughtful planning and an exceptional quality of life,” said Hernandez. “My goal is to ensure that our roadway system, utilities and public amenities are planned and built to the highest standards. It’s an honor to be part of a team that is committed to preserving what makes Heath such a special place while preparing for its future.”
Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In addition to being a licensed Professional Engineer in three states, he holds certifications as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor, Qualified Stormwater Developer and Practitioner, Local Government Project Procedures Administrator, Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Operator, and numerous Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) pre-certifications.
Outside of work, Hernandez enjoys spending time with his family. “I have three wonderful children and a loving wife, and one of my greatest joys has been experiencing life’s firsts all over again through their eyes,” he said.
