City leaders and dignitaries from neighboring Cities, County and State level break ground for new Public Works facility.
The City hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Public Works Facility.
We thank everyone who attended to help celebrate this much-needed improvement and honor the hard-working, valued Public Works Team.
The old home in the background has served as headquarters for the Public Works staff, equipment and vehicles for over 20 years. It will be knocked down and replaced with a new 7,200 square foot facility! The Public Works property is located on FM 740 south towards Forney. The new facility should be completed this fall, weather permitting. The City also thanks the Heath Economic Development and Municipal Benefits Corporations for helping to fund this improvement through local sales tax dollars.
In 2023, the City Council adopted a budget that incorporates $30.5 million in bonds to fund the construction of a new Department of Public Safety station and a Public Works facility, and the renovation of Towne Center Park. Due to a funding partnership between the Heath Municipal Benefits Corporation (HMBC) and the City, these projects will be funded without an increase to the tax rate.
The new Public Works facility is being built on the current City-owned site at 1284 FM 740. Weather permitting, construction should be completed by March 2026.
